This wave of endorsements is notably headlined by Geoff Ballotti, President and CEO of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, who vocally championed the proposal during a virtual meeting convened by the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC).
Ballotti praised the Caesars Times Square project as unparalleled among downstate gaming venue proposals, highlighting its potential to integrate seamlessly into the fabric of Times Square. He emphasized, “We believe that this is the only location, having looked at them all, been approached by other partners, where a casino will blend seamlessly into… the identity and the character of a neighborhood that really needs an upgrade.”
This endorsement carries significant weight considering Wyndham’s existing partnership with Caesars through a points-sharing agreement. This collaboration allows Wyndham Rewards members to book stays at over 30 Caesars properties across the U.S., further linking their fortunes in hospitality.
The project also boasts collaboration with real estate giant SL Green and Roc Nation, led by hip-hop titan Jay-Z, underscoring its high-profile backing. Matt Goldman, executive director of The Town Hall, expressed optimism about the project’s impact on tourism and local arts. “By drawing more visitors to the area, I genuinely believe Caesars Palace Times Square will help drive additional commerce, increase ticket sales for live performances, and strengthen the entire ecosystem that supports our city’s world-renowned arts and culture sector,” he stated.
In addition to enhancing Times Square’s appeal to visitors, Caesars Palace Times Square has pledged to sponsor multiple events annually at these venues. A notable initiative tied to this plan involves expanding Caesars Rewards to include select New York City small businesses—pending approval of one of three coveted downstate licenses.
