In an exciting move that underscores its position as a leader in technological innovation within the hospitality and gaming industry, Resorts World Las Vegas has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Zoox, an avant-garde autonomous rideshare service. This collaboration not only marks Zoox’s status as the resort’s “Official Robotaxi” but also signifies a major leap forward in enhancing guest experiences through technology.
Zoox, which became a subsidiary of Amazon following its acquisition for $1.2 billion in June 2020, is at the forefront of transforming urban mobility. By offering transportation in driverless vehicles, Zoox promises to revolutionize how guests navigate the vibrant cityscape of Las Vegas.
The integration of Zoox into Resorts World Las Vegas’ array of services includes a dedicated pick-up and drop-off zone strategically located at the main entrance of the resort. Furthermore, Zoox will enjoy visibility across the property, directly engaging with guests and inviting them to partake in this futuristic mode of travel.
Carlos Castro, President and Chief Financial Officer of Resorts World Las Vegas, expressed enthusiasm about this venture, stating it prepares the destination for “the future of guest experiences.” He emphasized that by welcoming Zoox robotaxis into their transportation ecosystem, they are not only expanding possibilities for guests but also reinforcing Las Vegas’s reputation as a global hub for innovation.
Currently undergoing testing in both Las Vegas and San Francisco, with plans for official launch services across Southern Nevada later this year followed by San Francisco—Zoox’s operation is also being tested in Miami and Austin. The company’s robotaxi can accommodate up to four passengers in a carriage-style seating arrangement designed to foster intimate conversations without the presence of a driver. This feature is particularly appealing to riders who prefer or require privacy during their travels.
Beyond its pioneering partnership with Resorts World Las Vegas, Zoox has ambitions to extend its operational footprint throughout Southern Nevada within the year. The ease with which users can hail a ride—akin to popular services like Uber or Lyft—via the Zoox app underscores the seamless integration of advanced technology into everyday life. Users simply download the app, input their details along with payment information, choose their destination, and await their ride. Once aboard, passengers have control over environmental settings such as temperature and music through an interactive digital display.
Despite recalling 270 vehicles for critical software updates following an incident involving an unoccupied Zoox vehicle and an electric scooter rider in San Francisco—which resulted only in minor injuries—Zoox maintains that its service is safer than conventional taxis driven by humans.
Resorts World Las Vegas prides itself on being at the cutting edge of integrating technology within its operations. The property boasts several tech-centric features aimed at enhancing guest convenience and satisfaction. These include RED, a digital concierge service facilitating smooth check-ins/out processes; assistance with reservations; handling requests like room dining or retrieving cars from parking—all accessible via most guestroom’s 65-inch LED Smart TVs.
Moreover, Resorts World Las Vegas elevates gaming experiences through cashless wagering options available via the property’s app. This allows guests to enjoy slots, table games, sports betting—all from their smartphones while circumventing the need to carry large sums of cash. The app further serves as a payment method throughout the resort and anywhere Mastercard is accepted.
This partnership between Resorts World Las Vegas and Zoox exemplifies how embracing innovative technologies can significantly enhance guest experiences while promoting sustainable urban mobility solutions.
